Sports Day 2017
by Vashti Turner on July 18, 2017 in House Competitions Sports
On Friday 14th July staff and students took part in our annual Sports Day, the final major house competition of the academic year. Like in previous years, the event was hosted at the Linford Christie Stadium.
Staff and students donned their house colours and took part in a full range of track and field events. With 10,000 house points up for grabs there was much excitement in the air. The strong house spirit is evident at every house competition, and never more so than Sports Day.
Medals were awarded for first, second and third place in each event, and a points update was announced regularly. A dramatic turn of events after the sprint races saw Angelou rise from fourth to second place, but they couldn’t catch Pankhurst house, who claimed their second victory at Sports Day following their 2014-15 win.
The 10,000 house points make the final race for the 2016-17 house cup a close call. The final standings will be announced at the end of year assembly this Friday. A big congratulations to Pankhurst for their performance at Sports Day.
