Dexter Hercules

We were thrilled to welcome Dexter Hercules to KAA — the world-renowned drummer who has performed with artists including Dave, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. Fresh from touring the United States with Dave, Dexter very generously took time out of his schedule to visit KAA and meet our students.

During his presentation, Dexter spoke about his journey as a musician, growing up as a drummer, the importance of music education, and his experiences navigating the music industry, including some of the remarkable performances and recordings he has been part of throughout his career. Students were hugely inspired by his honesty, passion and professionalism — and, of course, absolutely blown away by his virtuosic live drum solos.

As part of the visit, Dexter and his team generously donated a blue Pearl drum kit, complete with cymbals and hardware, for our students to use at KAA. This incredible gesture is a powerful reflection of Dexter’s belief in the value of music education and his support for opportunities for young people in state schools.

We hope this inspiring visit encourages even more students to begin learning a musical instrument through KAA’s peripatetic music programme, where lessons are available at a discounted rate with our specialist instrumental teachers. Who knows — perhaps one day some of our own students will find themselves performing on stage alongside Ed Sheeran too.
