On Friday 26th May we were joined by Parent Governor, Stephanie Tyrer, for our Summer 1 awards assembly to celebrate the many successes of the half term and announce the House Points total for the year so far.

During the assembly we ceIMG_3208lebrated the achievement of the Year 7 boys, Year 8 boys and U13s girls football teams, who all made it to the QPR Schools League finals. Awards were presented for most improved player, manager’s player of the year, players’ player of the year and top scorers. A huge congratulations to every student who has represented KAA this season.

The second awards presented were for Reader of the Half term, selected each half term to celebrate students who have shown enthusiasm and progress during Morning Reading. Christina (7 Farah), Amie (8 Fitzgerald), and Daniel (9 Kidston) all recieved a book and 100 house points for their effort during Morning Reading.

Another of our half termly awards is the attendance raffle, for all students who have had 100% attendance for the term. The lucky winner this term was Agnesa (9 Balon), who won a Westfield voucher for her excellent attendance.

The assembly also celebrated the appointment of our new Head Boy, Kai (12 Sirleaf) and Head Girl, Titilayo (12 Maathai). Both spoke to students during assembly about what it means to them to step up to these leadership positions.

Finally, we celebrated the fantastic House Drama competition which took place on Wednesday 24th May 2017. Each house retold a classic fairy tale, and the level of creativity involved was outstanding. Well done to every student who participated, whether as an actor, a crew member, set designer, script writer or sounds and light technician. The hard work behind each performance was evident and our guest judges had a hard time selecting the winners. However, the final placings were Angelou in first place, Honeyball in second, Franklin in third and Pankhurst fourth. Angelou’s winning Snow White retelling, and Honeyball’s modernised Little Red Riding Hood were again performed during the awards assembly today.

Sum1 house points

Congratulations to Angelou, who kept their lead after a win in House Drama and exceptional effort on commendations and silver and gold merits. However, as we enter the final half term of the year there is still all to play for as Angelou’s lead is less than the number of house points for a win in a major competition. This means Sports Day will be a huge event for all houses, so all in all lots to look forward to next half term!
