This week the girls faced a tough and exciting match. It was their first round qualifier as representatives of RBKC in the London Youth Games.

The team, comprised of two year 7 students and five year 8s, played against the American School, a team made up entirely of year 9 students. All members of the KAA team showed fantastic grit and determination throughout the gruelling 4 quarters.

Rita Shaqiri demonstrated excellent defending skills throughout and Ayah Hemmid worked tirelessly up and down the court. Going into the 4th quarter 20 – 0 the girls focused their effort on scoring at least one hoop. Determined not to fail, the girls fought in the 4th quarter showing teamwork and resilience and in the final 2 minutes, year 7 student, Lilian Samson used her strong dribbling skills to create an opportunity to score!

Whilst the game ended as a loss the victory of scoring those 2 points left the girls determined to improve and progress further in next year’s competition.

Woman of the Match: Lilian Samson
