Match Report by Mr Hajjaj

IMG_1732Two late goals from Bilal E (8 Berners Lee) sealed a tight victory in what was an enthralling end to end encounter from two local rivals. The game saw two teams challenging for the top spot in the QPR Schools League. The year 8s started nervously, losing possession too easily to their opponents.

Ten minutes into the game, the boys found their usual and reliable rhythm. Slick and swift passing in the midfield offered Ethan (8 Kidston) half a chance inside a congested 18 yard box. Cool as a cucumber, Ethan finished brilliantly, firing KAA into the lead. Burlington Danes, who refused to lie down, stepped up to the plate allowing KAA to hold on to the lead for a very short period of time. Burlington Danes, growing in confidence, began to attack ferociously with intent, and with their home supporters acting as the ‘12th man’, they equalised the score. Cameron (8 Balon), man of the match, did what he does best. As the attacks mounted, Cameron led the team by example and forced the opposition back, consequently spearheading KAA’s attacks. Cameron was awarded for his efforts with a dazzling left-footed strike taking KAA back into the lead. The heart pounding first half saw both teams end the half confidently finishing at 2-2.

The second half started with both teams rearing to go, the teams attacked and counter attacked in style. The back four leaked very few chances, the midfield created chances with exquisite passing and supported both defence and attack. With ten minutes remaining, Bilal E showed why he is KAA’s top goal scorer, beating their keeper with a sweet shot at his near post. With minutes remaining, BDA pushed further forward in search of a late equaliser. To secure victory, Bilal E displayed his pace when he received the ball from the half way line, galloped forward and calmly slotting home the fourth, giving KAA an important and well deserved victory and vital 3 points!

KAA have now played all of their matches in the league and will have to await the results of the final matches to be played by Burlington Danes and Fulham Boys to discover if they will be crowned league champions.
