Match Report by Mr Miller.

y9-football-teamThe year 9 girls played in the first round of the London Schools cup away at Robert Clack school in Dagenham.

After a long journey and a slightly late kick off the girls showed no signs that the journey had affected their game. KAA created many chances and dominated the first half with Jeanette (9 Simmons) opening the scoring with a delightful finish. KAA had other chances, but just before half time they were hit on the counter attack and the teams went in at the break 1-1.

The second half started at a furious pace and again Jeanette scored to give KAA the lead. However, a momentary lapse at the back gifted Robert Clack a goal seconds later. With injury time approaching a long shot whistled into the back of the net and left them 3-2 down with the clocking ticking down.

Inspiringly, KAA heads did not drop and instead they showed tremendous resilience and Jeanette was sent clean through and coolly slotted in past the goalkeeper with the last kick of the game, to secure her hat-trick (and the match ball). This sent the game into penalties.

An agonising penalty shootout ensued with 10 penalties taken by both teams, which was ended with Robert Clack finally taking advantage of a missed penalty by KAA and winning the game. Special recognition must be given to fill-in keeper Agnesa (9 Balon) who saved 6 penalties alone. KAA will be back stronger in their next match in the QPR schools league with the girls vowing to prevail in their next match.

Player of the Match: Jeanette (9 Simmons).
