Match Report by Mr Bernard, Head of PE

After a lengthy break from league action the year 7 football team resumed their quest towards the title with a fixture against Chelsea Academy on Thursday 25th February at Westway. The team were eager to continue their unbeaten record and anticipated a tough game against the local rivals. Competition for places in the team has been fierce over recent games and all players have been working hard to claim a starting position.

The team started brightly and played some attractive football in the early stages. Top scorer Mahi (7 Matisse) put in an energetic display, helped by the Pankhurst midfield duo of Rami (7 Kahlo) and Obayda (7 Kahlo). KAA took the lead through Obayda, with a neat long range finish. Goalkeeper Carlos (7 Baker) made some excellent stops to keep Chelsea Academy at bay and KAA raced into a 3-1 lead early in the second half, courtesy of Obayda’s second goal and a third from Conor (7 Hepburn).

Unfortunately KAA began to relax despite only a slender lead against a strong team and Chelsea Academy took full advantage as they slotted home 2 late goals to take a well-deserved point from the game. It is important the team bounces back in next week’s games and we rectify the defensive frailties which were exposed. A draw was a fair result and continues our unbeaten record, which will be vital in our target of reaching the league finals. With 3 games to go there is all to play for in the competition.

Man of the Match: Obayda (7 Kahlo)
