KAA students celebrate their A Level results

Our Year 13 students secured fantastic outcomes today as they collected their A level results, with 63% of all entries achieving A*-B grades, and 33% of entries gaining an A* or A grade! The results show KAA Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength.

The university entrance picture is positive, with the majority of students achieving their first or insurance choice. 46% of applicants secured places at Russell Group Universities, with one at Oxford and two medicine places.

Students will be attending a diverse range of universities this year, including Oxford, Durham, York, UCL, Southampton, Bath, Cardiff, Reading, King’s College London, Imperial, LSE, and University of the Arts London. Students will be reading a variety of subjects including Architecture, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, English Literature, Fine Art, Geography, History, International Relations, Law, Medicine, and Pharmacy. There are also successes in apprenticeship destinations, such as Courtney, who has secured an apprenticeship at BDO – the fifth largest accounting network in the world.

We are so proud of our students and don’t doubt they will now go on to real success in the next stages of their education and training, taking an Intrepidus attitude with them.

Some headlines are:

·      33% of results were A*/A (above the national average of 27.8%)

·      63% were A*-B

·      86% A*-C (well above the national average of 76.4%)

·      Average grade = B-

Specific department successes include:

·      English Literature, with 46% grades awarded A*-A and 92% A*-B

·      Economics, with 56% of grades A*-A and 88% A*-B

·      Further Maths, with 67% of grades A*-A, and 75% A*-B

·      Geography, with 43% A*-A grades and 57% A*-B

·      Maths, with 43% of grades A*-A and 64% A*-B

·      Psychology, with 38% of grades A*-A, and 70% A*-B

·      Art, with 40% A*-A grades and 60% A*-B

·      French and Spanish, with 100% of grades awarded A*-B

·      Music and Dance, also with 100% A*-B grades achieved

 

 

 

 

 

Some individual successes in the STEM subjects include:

·      Yahya (13 Ebadi) who completed four A levels, achieving A*s in Physics and Maths and As in Chemistry and Further Maths. He has secured a place at UCL to study Mechanical Engineering.

·      Rawan (13 Nightingale) who completed four A levels, gaining an A* in Maths, As in Physics and Further Maths, and a B in Computer Science. Rawan is also taking up a place at UCL to read Mechanical Engineering.

·      Marek (13 Tutu), who also completed four A levels, achieving A*s in Physics, Maths and Further Maths, and a B in Computer Science. Marek has been accepted at Queen Mary to study Physics this autumn.

·      Sarah (13 Sirleaf) who achieved an A* in Psychology and As in Biology and Chemistry and was accepted to study Chemistry at UCL.

·      Tosya (13 Tutu) who achieved A* in Maths and As in Computer Science and Further Maths. Tosya will be studying Computer Science at King’s College London.

·      Agape (13 Ebadi) who secured a place at UCL to study Applied Medical Sciences with three As in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry.

In the performing arts & creative arts and humanities:

·      Michelle (13 Nightingale) who earned an A* in Art, A in Dance and A History, and will now be studying History of Art at UCL.

·      Havana (13 Wilberforce) who achieved an A* in Geography, A in English and A in Politics and gained a place at UCL to study Geography beginning this autumn.

And students with a mix of STEM, arts and humanities subjects:

·      Giuliana (13 Roosevelt) who completed five A Levels, gaining three As in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish, and two Bs in Art and French. Giuliana will be reading Medical Sciences in Management at Imperial.

·      Zainab (13 Ebadi) who achieved straight As in Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. Zainab has secured a place at UCL to study Chemistry this year.

·      Hosannah (13 Ebadi) who achieved straights As in Computer Science, Geography, and Maths. Hosannah is going on to study Computer Science at King’s College London.

·      Ayub (13 Tubman) who achieved straight As in Economics, Politics and Psychology and will be studying International Relations, also at King’s College London.

·      Zackie (13 Gladstone) who got three As in Physics, Economics and Maths and will now be going to Queen Mary to study Computer Science in the autumn.

·      Rami (13 Ibrahim) who achieved three As in Politics, Maths and Economics and will go on to study Economics and Politics, also at Queen Mary.

·      Sumira (13 Ebadi) who has received straight As in Biology, Chemistry and History. Sumira has accepted a place to study Biological Sciences at Cardiff University.

·      Ana (13 Maathai) who achieved an A* in Dance, and Bs in English and Psychology and will be studying Italian and Management at UCL.

Principal Anna Jordan said, “A huge congratulations to all our Y13 students on an excellent set of results. We’re delighted that so many students have secured their first-choice universities and post-18 destinations again this year.”
