At KAA we are committed to delivering the highest possible standards for our students. This commitment is shared equally by teaching and support staff. We aim for excellent performance and are frustrated when we fall below the high standards we have set ourselves.
This commitment is a distinctive part of KAA culture and not something you would necessarily experience elsewhere. To achieve it, our staff need to be highly reflective, passionate people who are determined to excel, not just occasionally (for example in an observation) but for a very high proportion of the time.
Having said that, KAA is not an overly pressured or stressful place to work, and staff well-being is of course a big part of us achieving the high standards we set ourselves. We often talk about hitting the right balance between high-performance and low-stress. We have 180 school days and 15 training days a year (most schools have 190 school days and just 5 training days). This helps us to support our staff to improve. We also have a two week half term in October. Both are examples of how we do things differently at KAA. Our “outstanding” Ofsted inspection in 2017 noted:
“Staff morale is exceptionally high. Staff enjoy working at the school and benefit from high-quality training.”
The training and development of our staff is our highest priority. Our recent Ofsted inspection report highlighted that: “Teachers new to the profession feel very well supported in settling into the school quickly and developing their practice.” This careful support makes KAA a great place to begin your teaching journey.
