Christmas Concert an array of creativity

On Wednesday 17th December KAA held our first Christmas Concert. Principal David Benson welcomed staff, students and guests to the academy theatre for a fantastic evening of performances. Visitors enjoyed contributions from the Choir, Drama Club and Musical Theatre Enrichment Club.
To begin the evening, Yusra Mrimou (7 Simmons) and Parmida Sarrami (7 Winfrey) presented a reading of their work ‘Snapshots of an unforgettable Christmas’, written with Sophie Proctor-McGuire (7 Oliver) during their English end of term assessment. The eloquent recital described a lively snow scene and displayed the excellent descriptive writing skills Yusra, Parmida and Sophie have developed during their first term at KAA.
The evening continued with the KAA Choir’s rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’, led by Mr. Fisher. The choir also performed ‘Wake Me Up’, ‘Real Love’ and ‘Silent Night’, with the audience invited to join in during the final verses of ‘Silent Night’ at the close of the evening. Other musical performances included; ‘When I Grow Up’ from the musical ‘Matilda’ sung by the KAA Musical Theatre Club, a solo violin performance by Oliver Meagher (7 Jobs), who has been receiving violin tuition at KAA since the Autumn half term, and the song ‘Let It Go’ from the movie ‘Frozen’, which was the winning performance by Johara El-Alaoui (7 Dyson) at ‘KAA’s Got Talent’ during Charity Week.
The KAA Drama Club have spent the Autumn Term rehearsing ‘Scrooge’, a play based on Charles Dickens’s ‘A Christmas Carol’. The budding actors and actresses gave an enthusiastic and comedic performance interspersed between the musical performances.
The whole evening was a fantastic display of the creativity and talent of our founder students. The performances were greatly enjoyed by all of our guests, whom we hope to see at the first school production during the Spring Term.
