LAMDA qualifications to be delivered through KAA

Kensington Aldridge Academy is both fortunate and proud to have the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), a world-leading Higher Education provider, as an educational partner.
LAMDA is currently developing a soon-to-be Ofqual-accredited Speaking and Listening qualification which aims to restore prominence to the art of effective speaking and listening, which has lost eminence in the modified GCSE curriculum. Undoubtedly, gaining confidence in articulating opinions, ideas and arguments is a fundamentally important skill which we aim to embed in all of our KAA students.
From October 2015 to January 2016, one KAA Year 8 class will be piloting one of the two units of the LAMDA qualification; Unit 1 Preparation and Presentation, the objective of which is to deliver a persuasive speech to an imagined audience. To show success in this unit, students will develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication whilst researching a range of resources which will inform their persuasive speech. This is a rare and brilliant opportunity for KAA to be a part of an exciting, novel and beneficial project which is unique in the state school sector.
Once finessed, finalised and accredited, the LAMDA Speaking and Listening qualification will be rolled out to schools nationally in September 2016. Participating students will receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction Certificate which will enrich their Curriculum Vitae and future educational and job applications. We anticipate that the qualification will inspire students to further develop their communication skills through LAMDA’s more advanced level qualifications, which carry UCAS points.
