Trip to Lord’s Cricket Ground
by Vashti Turner on September 22, 2015 in Sports Trips
On Saturday 19th September a selected group of students had the privilege of attending the Royal London Cup final at Lords cricket ground, between Gloucestershire and Surrey. The students invited to attend were those who had represented the school cricket teams throughout last year and also those who have demonstrated excellence within their PE lessons.
We were invited to attend the match by our school sponsors the Aldridge Foundation, and were fortunate to have use of Sir Rod Aldridge’s executive box for the match. The students had a fantastic time as they watched the thrilling match from the best seats in the ground. We opted to support Surrey who unfortunately lost the game, however it was inspiring for the students to see such talented cricketers in action.
It was a great day out and for many it was the first time they had been to a live sporting event. The students are looking forward to padding up this season against other local schools.
– Mr Bernard, Lead Teacher of PE
“We [were] given the luxurious privilege of watching the game from Sir Rod Aldridge’s personal box. I had a tremendous amount of fun watching the game and seeing the tactics they use to be successful.”
Safiyah McGee (8 Jobs)
“It was really inspiring as it will help me to improve my cricket skills. The hospitality box was so comfortable and made the game even better to watch.”
