Three points were up for grabs last week, and more importantly a victory was needed to set the tone for the tournament. Having come so close to winning the league last season, they Year 8 boys football team came out firing from all cylinders to ensure a perfect start to the season and creating momentum for the games to come.
KAA’s early dominance was rewarded with only 8 minutes on the clock when Eknoor (8 Hepburn) pounced on a loose ball drilling the it past Holland Park’s shocked defence. Holland Park tried to steady their ship as wave after wave of KAA’s slick passing and forward movement created havoc in HP’s defending third. KAA were forced to be patient in the search for a second goal, which proved elusive for some time. Patience was rewarded when Mahi (8 Matisse) took advantage of a corner kick to flick the ball past the goalkeeper with his head.
The first half ending 2-0.
KAA started the second half as they ended the first. Obayda (8 Kahlo), dazzled Holland Park’s defence with some magical touches, created an opening for himself and obligingly took full advantage of, slipping the ball past the HP goalkeeper making the score 3-0.
With a comfortable lead and Holland Park’s heads beginning to drop, Jayden (8 Lennon) snapped at the ball from outside the box, leaving the keeper with no chance and making it goal number four.
Excellent link up play between Conor (8 Hepburn) and Rami (8 Kahlo) created a chance for Mahi to capitalise on a second goal for the night. Mahi celebrated in style with his usual double backflip.
KAA continued to press forward, Man of the Match Conor was awarded with goals two of his own, his second an exquisite 20 yard lob wrapping up the game in a style befitting any premiership player.
Final score 8-0 to KAA!
