Match report by Mr Hajjaj
Last week, the year 9 football team experienced a derailment when they were defeated by the league favourites, Fulham Boys School, 4-nil. The team’s momentum was dented, making victory evermore important this week in order to ensure KAA get back on track in the league.
Fifteen minutes into the first half, KAA stamped their authority on the game when Bilal (9 Jobs) scored directly from a corner. Hammersmith Academy, meaningful in their attacks, scored an equaliser in the dying minutes of the first half.
In the second half, debutant Sebastian (9 Oliver) impressively controlled the left flank, linking well with Andet (9 Kidston). Dazzling his way down the wing, Sebastian paved the way for Jeirel (9 Kidston) who chipped the keeper only to be denied by the crossbar.
Jeriel later used his natural guile to free himself from his marker to score, reissuing KAA with the lead. Hammersmith Academy, ever bullish and refusing to drop the baton, scored their second equaliser creating an intense ending to the game.
With KAA defending deep in their own half, Ethan (9 Kidston) elegantly shuffled his way out of defence and passed a perfect through ball into the path of the ever reliable Jeriel, who scored to ensure KAA took all three points!
