Match Report by Mr Hajjaj
Last week the year 8 football team maintained their 100% record in the QPR Schools’ League with a performance befitting air time on Match of the Day!
KAA enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half, mercilessly carving Chelsea Academy open only to be halted by the woodwork no less than five times. Debutant Fedell (8 Kahlo) seamlessly fitted into the attacking line, linking up well with the midfield maestros Conor (8 Hepburn), Rami (8 Kahlo) and Obayda (8 Kahlo), silkily weaving their way through the defence but to no avail. Frustration began to creep into their game as the search for the opener proved elusive.
At half time it was made clear to the team that it was imperative they keep a positive mind set and remain patient. Encapsulating the academy’s core value of resilience, KAA were once again quick off the blocks, determined to take the lead as the second half began.
In search of the opener the players pushed forward leaving gaps in the rear line. Chelsea Academy managed to force their way out and created a swift counter attack. With not much to do in the first half, Nayim’s (8 Baker) alertness was tested and he managed to parry a goal bound shot wide for a corner. This served as a reminder to KAA that there were two teams in this game and that high levels of concentration had to be maintained by all.
Eventually the team’s determination paid off and Mahi (8 Matisse) broke the deadlock with a tap-in from Conor’s long range effort. The second followed two minutes later, when Obayda dazzled his way through the midfield setting off Mahi to coolly score his second. Kyle, Obayda and Shane later added to the score line putting the game to bed at five nil.
Congratulations to the team for continuing their undefeated status in the league.
