Christmas food bank charity collection

by Vashti Turner  on December 3, 2021  in  Charity

This December KAA is running a charity scheme in which we are hoping students and their families will help us to collect goods for local food banks in the run up to the winter holidays. We will be collecting from Monday 6th December until Thursday 16th December.

The launch of this initiative last year was overwhelmingly successful. We were proud to have supported 5 different local food banks and trusts. We hope that this year we can continue to champion citizenship and support the local community.

KAA will aim to collect non-perishable foods and domestic goods for local food banks including; The Trussell Trust, The Dalgarno Trust and North Kensington Community Kitchen. Students will be able to bring any donations to school and deposit them in boxes at their assigned entrance to the building. There is no expectation for families to provide food or goods, however if you do have any of the items on the list available to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

The food banks have said that they are in need of the following items (please do not bring in fresh food!):

Food:

·                     Tinned fish (sardines, tuna, mackerel, salmon)

·                     Tinned fruit

·                     Tinned meat

·                     Tinned veg (sweetcorn, Peas, beans, carrots & potatoes)

·                     Dried rice 500g – 2kg

·                     Instant noodles

·                     Custard Rice pudding / Jelly

·                     Long life milk

·                     Long life juice

·                     Biscuits/chocolate

·                     Couscous

Toiletries:

·                     Soap, shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, deodorant, shaving cream, nappies

Household:

·                     Washing liquid & washing powder

Thank you in advance for your support of KAA and our community. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Head of Angelou House, Ms Nix, at e.nix@kaa.org.uk.
