For the past two weeks, teams from all 4 houses have been battling every lunchtime for a place in the elusive house football final for a chance of lifting the House Football Cup. The competition came to a close on Friday in front of a sell-out crowd in the sports hall. It was a tense affair as students and teachers roared their support for their house from the side-lines. The teams put on an entertaining display of skill and fought with real passion for their house.

(Pankhurst win on penalties)

It was a repeat of last year’s final as these two houses revived their rivalry. There were very few chances in the game, with both defences keeping out all attacks. The game went to penalties and Pankhurst once again held their nerve as Tahana scored the winning penalty to ensure they reclaimed their title as reigning champions.

Pankhurst 2 – 1 Franklin

The last and most entertaining match of the day ensured the finals finished on a high. Franklin, who had been in outstanding form all tournament, took a deserved lead through Elijah and with one minute to go it seemed would be winning their first House Cup. However, a goalkeeping error allowed Bilal E to equalise from the penalty spot. As the crowd counted down the last ten seconds, on the count of two Cameron John-Jules blasted a shot into the top corner to bring the cup home to Pankhurst for the second time in as many years.
