As a Performing & Creative Arts specialist academy we are committed to excellence in art, music, drama, dance and design technology. This means state-of-the-art facilities and – most importantly – excellent teaching in these subjects.
We harness the expertise of our partners, LAMDA and the Royal Academy of Dance, to give opportunities that you would rarely find in a state school. Studying at KAA Sixth Form will provide essential knowledge and a wide range of talents, helping our students to become confident, expressive communicators.
Our Performing Arts Partners
We enjoy a fantastic partnership with LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art), a world-class drama school and educational charity. With over 150 years’ experience delivering exceptional vocational training in the dramatic arts, they are a major contributor to the cultural wealth of the nation, informing and influencing the performing arts sector as a whole.
We are also partners with The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), who promote knowledge, understanding and practice of dance internationally. They seek to accomplish this through promoting dance, educating and training students and teachers, and providing examinations to set standards and reward achievement. RAD are a recognised examining body and their qualifications carry UCAS points. Our dance provision is growing quickly, with the number of genres we teach being increased each year. RAD deliver weekly enrichments to KAA students and assist us with recruiting the very best dance teachers.
Our specialist facilities
In addition to these fantastic partnerships and expert teaching, we have specialist performing and creative arts classrooms for drama, art and performing arts.
The Drama Department enjoys the use of our professional theatre, with tiered seating for 260 and a brand new £140,000 theatre system, built to a West End standard. The academy also has specialist drama and dance studios used for lessons and rehearsals.
The Music Department contains multiple classrooms and practice rooms, as well as a professional recording studio fitted with a state-of-the-art 24-channel Allen & Heath mixing desk. Mr Fisher, Head of Music, says: ‘The Music Department is rapidly becoming the central creative hub within the school. We are constantly developing and showcasing musical excellence and this is just the start!’
The Art Department contains specialist studio-style art classrooms, a photography dark room, kiln room, and a beautiful terrace space. The Design & Technology department boasts state-of-the-art design technology classrooms for Graphics, Resistant Materials, Food Technology and Textiles, as well as a 3D printer, laser cutter/engraver and full workshop facilities.
These facilities speak for themselves – it is a world class learning environment and we are extremely privileged to have it. If you are considering a career in performing & creative arts KAA Sixth Form has the specialist teaching, facilities and partnerships to prepare you for a career in the arts.
