World famous concert pianist Lang Lang visits KAA

On Friday 8th March, the world famous concert pianist Lang Lang visited KAA to give a surprise masterclass to Adea (10 Baker) ahead of her Grade 7 piano exam. The visit was organised by the BBC One Show and presented by Cerys Matthews, former lead singer of Catatonia.

Lang Lang and Adea had an hour long masterclass during which Lang Lang provided lots of tips and guidance for Adea. The visit was a complete surprise for Adea, who took full advantage of advice from a world-class pianist ahead of her exam.

Following the masterclass, Lang Lang performed several pieces for a packed audience of students and staff. The pianist also took questions from students and posed for photographs with some of KAA’s budding pianists.

The piece about Lang Lang’s visit to KAA aired on Wednesday 24th April, and Adea visited the studio to talk to BBC One Show presenters Matt and Alex about the experience.
