Year 11s match Year 13s with record breaking GCSE results

We’re delighted to share that our Year 11s have secured the school’s best ever GCSE results, with 38% of all grades at 7 or above (equivalent to the old ‘A’ grade). The national average for Grade 7+ is 26% (and in London, 33%).  73% of all KAA grades were 5 or above (a ‘strong pass’), with 66% of students achieving 5+ in both English and Maths.

Our provisional “Progress 8” score is 0.5, meaning KAA students perform half a grade better than students with equivalent starting points in other schools. Again, this is well above national averages.

As with our excellent A Level results, these GCSE outcomes underline the outstanding standards at KAA, and are a credit to the hard work and resilience students have shown. Students and staff have found ways to overcome the challenges of Covid and should be proud of what they have achieved.

A summary of our results is:

  • 38% of grades at 7 or above
  • 73% of grades at 5 or above
  • 84% of grades at a 4 or above
  • 66% of all students secured a 5 or above in both English and Maths (80% 4 or above)
  • Progress 8 score (provisional) of +0.5
  • Attainment 8 score (provisional) of 56.28

Principal David Benson said: “I’ve been so impressed by both our Year 11 and Year 13 students over these last two years. These excellent results are a real credit to their abilities and ambition. Also to the staff who worked so tirelessly to support them, and their parents for all their encouragement at home. A huge well done and thank you to everyone involved.”

Some individual success stories included:

  • Nerses achieved ten grade 9 GCSEs, and was very pleased with his results. He said that the GCSE exams “were not as bad as everyone said, and I did what I had to do.” He has now enrolled to study Maths, Further Maths, and Economics at KAA Sixth Form.
  • Ibti achieved ten GCSEs with grades 7-9 and said she was “so happy”. She added that though remote learning and the disruption caused by Covid lockdowns was difficult “we got a lot of support so it wasn’t so bad.” Ibti is going on to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths A Levels at KAA Sixth Form.
  • Evan achieved nine GCSEs at grades 7-9 and said “How do I put it into words? I can’t!”. Evan was deciding on a fourth A level subject still, but is looking forward to studying Art, English, Maths and History or Government & Politics at KAA Sixth Form.
  • Narjis achieved nine GCSEs with grades 6-9 and will now be going on to study Chemistry, Biology, Religious Education and Psychology at KAA Sixth Form.

Any students wishing to enrol in KAA Sixth Form for September 2022 should view our Sixth Form pages here. Existing offer holders will be prioritised and spaces are limited and only open to those who have met our entry criteria.
