2016 Spelling Bee
by Vashti Turner on November 11, 2016 in House Competitions
The first Interim House Competition of Autumn 2 took place during lunch time today. Staff and students gathered in the theatre to watch the selected representatives of each house battle it out in our first ever Spelling Bee, organised by the English Department.
Each house put forward 10 students in years 7 – 12 to represent the house after trials during form time this week. There was a brilliant atmosphere in the theatre, with a packed audience of staff and students there to cheer on the competitors.
The winning house was calculated by combining the total words spelt correctly by all team members. The results were as follows:
1st Place: ANGELOU
2nd Place: PANKHURST
3rd Place: FRANKLIN
4th Place: HONEYBALL
The students involved displayed incredible Intrepidus by taking part in front of so many spectators – with many overcoming huge nerves and going on to perform extremely well. Well done to every single competitor and congratulations to winners Angelou.
