Homework

KS3

Students in KS3 will receive one homework task to complete on Sparx every week. This should take them 30 minutes up to an hour to complete. Students should always aim for 100% in each task. Where students encounter difficulties with answering a question, they must watch the short video that accompanies each question walking them through how to solve it. If a student is still encountering difficulties, they should use the seek help feature on the website where their teacher will be able to provide assistance.

KS4

Students will receive a Corbett maths 5-a-day booklet every half term. They should complete one page from this booklet every night. Each page has 5 exam style questions that students should answer to the best of their ability. Students should be spending at least 30 minutes on this and in order to be complete, must show their working out for each question. These booklets provide students with a really good opportunity to practise a variety of topics as they prepare for their GCSEs and become familiar with exam style questions.

How can I support my child?

You can support your child’s progress in mathematics in the following ways:

1. Check in with them:

●     Have they completed their homework?
●     How are they finding lessons at the moment?

2. Ensure they have the right equipment. Every lesson, students should have all their equipment as outlined in their planner. It is vital that students have a protractor, compass, ruler, pencil and scientific calculator.
