KAA students achieve best ever ‘non-Covid’ A Level results
by Vashti Turner on August 17, 2023 in Exams Sixth Form
Our Y13 leavers secured the school’s best ever results in normal times this year, with 60% of all entries achieving A*-B grades, and 90% achieving A*-C. Although these results are below the high water mark of 2022, they are ahead of national averages and higher than our pre-pandemic results.
Some headlines are;
- 26% of results were A*/A (in line with national average of 26%)
- 60% were A*-B (above national average of 53%)
- 90% A*-C (above national average of 75%)
- Average grade = B
The results are testament to the talent and determination of our Y13 leavers, who faced significant disruption during their school career, but never let this dampen their ambition. Also the commitment of KAA staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure students were thoroughly prepared for these exams.
The university entrance picture is positive, with the majority of students achieving their first or insurance choice. We are so proud of our students and don’t doubt they will now go on to real success in the next stages of their education and training, taking an Intrepidus attitude with them. Students will be attending a diverse range of universities this year, including Oxford, UCL, King’s, Leeds, Manchester and St Andrew’s, reading a variety of subjects including Politics, Biomedical Sciences and Music.
Danna, who received 4 As in Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Maths and will be off to St Andrew’s to study Computer Science in the Autumn term said she was “delighted” and heading straight home to tell her family the good news. Zebedee, who achieved 3 A*s in Mathematics, Physics and Psychology and will be studying Mechanical Engineering at Bath in the Autumn, is excited about starting university. He said “It’s going to be very different to what I’m used to, but I’m excited about the change, in a new environment and meeting completely new people.” We look forward to hearing about our alumni successes as they embark on their journey into higher education and beyond.
Huge congratulations to all our Y13 students on an excellent set of results. Future students wishing to enrol in KAA Sixth Form for next year should view our Sixth Form pages here. Enrolment for KAA Sixth Form places in September 2023 takes places on GCSE Results day, Thursday 24th August, starting at 9am for internal candidates and 10.30am for external candidates.
I am so proud of all the hard work that has led to our Y13 leavers getting such excellent results! Despite the unprecedented disruption due to the pandemic our students made a huge effort and should be extremely proud of themselves. Congratulations to those who are heading off to Oxford, UCL, King’s, Leeds, Manchester and St. Andrew’s to pursue their studies of Politics, Biomedical Sciences and Music. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Good luck to those who are enrolling in KAA Sixth Form for next year – here’s to fresh beginnings!
