October Half-Term Activities 2022

Students finish school at 2.55pm on Friday 21st for the October half term break from Monday 24th October to Friday 4th November. All students return to school at 8.25am of Monday 7th November.

Below is a summary of events your child may like to attend over the two week half term break. For older students needing a space to study over the half term break, please visit https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/libraries/your-library to find your nearest public library.

Cleaner Steps Graph Art Project – Monday 31st October

An opportunity has arisen to help paint the hoarding (temporary boards creating the wall) outside of Acklam Village, just off Portobello Road on Monday 31st October starting at 11am. This is an opportunity to learn how to do Legal Graffiti or ‘Graph Art’. The theme is representing the cultures of people in the local area, and the project aims to do this by painting their flags and stenciling positive things about each culture. Food & drink will be provided.

Please note this is not a KAA-led project, but an opportunity created by Cleaner Steps, a company run by our DT Technician Mr Hill. Cleaner Steps is training young people to carry out street art to rejuvenate the local area on behalf of the Westway Trust.

Cleaner Steps are looking for 15 students to get involved with the project. PPE is provided but we recommend students wear clothes they wouldn’t mind getting a little paint on.

Aldridge Junior Art Prize

Safe Camp at Canalside – 24th to 28th October

This is a free water sports and multi-sports camp for local Kensington and Chelsea children aged 8 to 16. This is held between 10am-3pm. Register at https://www.londonsportstrust.org/safe-camp

Safe Camp at Phoenix Academy – 24th to 28th October

This is a free multi-sports camp for local Hammersmith and Fulham children aged 8 to 16. this is held between 10am-3pm. Register at https://www.londonsportstrust.org/safe-camp

Young people can access the service by walking in, speaking with one of the playworkers and requesting a registration/membership form that must be filled out by the legal guardian before a child can stay on the playground without their parents

Notting Hill Adventure Playground – Ages 5 to 14 years old

Open between 10.30am and 4pm during the holidays. Entry is free for children aged between 5 and 14 and is open every day after school between 3.30pm and 5.30pm and on Saturdays between 12.15am and 3.45pm.

Little Wormwood Scrubs Adventure Playground – Ages 6 to 14 years old

Open between 10.30am and 4pm during the holidays. Entry is free for children aged between 6 and 14 and is open every day after school between 3.30pm and 5.30pm and on Saturdays and Sundays between 11am and 2pm.

Hornimans Adventure Playground exists to provide facilities for play and recreation for children aged between 5 and 16 years. A broad range of exciting play opportunities designed to help them develop children’s full potential through activities/workshops that are free, multi-cultural and promote creativity, imagination and self-expression.
