Pupil Premium
‘Pupil Premium’ (PP) is a grant given to schools for every child that is either eligible for free school meals (FSM) currently, or has been eligible at some point in the last six years. It is extremely important that all parents/carers of students eligible for FSM register their child, as the grant enables us to provide extra resources for your children.
The Pupil Premium grant is provided because national research has shown that, in some cases, students who are eligible for FSM may require additional support and resources to achieve the very highest grades. The government provides schools with Pupil Premium funding so we can allocate additional support to ensure all students achieve their potential.
The support provided with Pupil Premium funding can be delivered in a short burst of a few weeks, or run for a longer period of a term, two terms, a year, or even more. It may take the form of one-to-one or small group teaching or extra support during curriculum lessons. Alternatively, support may be provided through additional resources, enrichment sessions, or access to opportunities that accelerate learning or develop students’ ambitions.
