Term Dates

These term dates apply to students only. Staff must be at school during staff training and planning days – check handbook for further information.

KAA has more staff training days than a typical secondary school. As an academy, we have the freedom to set our own term dates, in the best interests of students. Providing staff with the time to train, research and develop subject knowledge is proven to raise educational outcomes. Although we have fewer school days than others, we have a longer school day during term time, as well as an extensive holiday offer of clubs and trips.

The majority of staff training days are at the beginning or end of an academic term, though on  1 occasion (2023-24) they take place during a term, to support with the marking and moderation of major assessments.

FIRST DAY OF SUM1 TERM: 16 April 2024

HALF TERM: 27 May 2024 – 31 May 2024

FIRST DAY OF SUM2 TERM: 5 June 2024

LAST DAY OF TERM: 18 July 2024 (half day)

FIRST DAY OF AUT1 TERM: 2 September 2024 (Y7 & Y12 only), 3 September 2024 (for Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11 & Y13).

HALF TERM: 21 October 2024 – 1 November 2024

FIRST DAY OF AUT2 TERM: 4 November 2024

LAST DAY OF TERM: 20 December 2024 (half day)
